Teenagers VS. Adults -Recession Edition-
Bwahaha.
Well, as everyone knows, poor old America is going through a sad, sad, recession. Which never ends, because Corporate Fellas are milking the cow for all it's worth. Or so I'm told. Honestly I don't know much about what's going on with the economy, except that it supposedly sucks right now. And I hear stuff like Bernie "Madeoff with a buncha money". And Ponzi scheme, which just reminds me of Happy Days for some reason. And bailout, which a bunch of companies seem to find a great way to promote their products (Dominos Pizza Big Taste Bailout or whatever). HAH.
Anyway, I digress. Back to the discussion. Uncle Sam is going broke. People are losing their jobs and panicking, etc. Definitely the bread and butter of a debate these days.
So, people lose their big corporate commuter jobs and flock over to the little guys (Target, Publix, McD's, Regal, etc.) to apply there. WHICH SUCKS, OKAY? That's teen territory, oldies! I mean, isn't there some unwritten law out there that says that teens work at those places? Jeez. Well, a lot of teens, anyway. It's kind of like...a last resort for adults, or a second job or something. I don't know. When an employer has to choose between a degree-toting 40-something or a n00bish teen, who do you think they're going to pick? Uh-huh, that's right.
So now, I and other sad, sad, youths must search, fruitlessly, across the hills and valleys of John's Creek and the surrounding metro area, for a job, which we will never find. A lost journey.
Meanwhile, I did find a temp job at mturk.com
Basically I provide Amazon and its subsidiates with
The highest you earn is like $30 (for an insanely tedious task of like writing a 50-page review for a website or transcribing a 20-minute German youtube video) or the lowest pay - a penny for visiting a website and commenting. I've made $2.63. Rolling in the riches here.
I tried looking on Craiglist and there are TONS of freelance writing gigs, but they all require either experience or writing samples. I'm finishing up some of my writing samples so I can possibly get one of these said writing gigs, which would be an exponentially less sucky temp job.
HOORAY!
And tomorrow I continue on my quest for a "real" job.
Options?
Toys R' Us
Babies R' Us
Homegoods
Joann's
I can see it already... any job I end up with, I'll either be surrounded by kids, moms, babies, empty-nesters, cat ladies and/or knitting-clubbers. All my favorite people! That's okay; I'd be earning that much needed money, so it's all good. WOOHOO!
Adios for now. Got to go grab that $0.30 mturk gig before some other broke person does.
:)
Note to Readers
Don't mind my excessive irritability. I'm thoroughly enjoying practicing the art of snarkiness, and don't feel half the annoyance I imply I do. Toodles!
