"Adventures in Jobland"

Today I will dedicate my 20-minute blogging timeblock to retell the day's stories of my journey through North Point Parkway for a job.

9:03 AM
Woke up with a crick in my neck. Ate breakfast, showered, got dressed, and got my hair did.

1:0something PM
Got in the car with Mom, Sister 1, and Sister 2. RITE AID STOP! We bought cheap mints and chocolate, since we were all craving sugar.

2:30 and onward:

JOB SEARCH STOP NUMBER ONE
(Toys R' Us)
So, we go inside, and I get in line to ask about their job applications and such. And slowly these people just keep cutting me in line, as if it's okay or something. I was much too polite to tell them not to, so it took me about 30 minutes to finally get to the cashier, right after the lady in front of me complained fruitlessly for an hour about how the baby registry wasn't working. And then it turns out you have to apply online. Okay.

JOB SEARCH STOP NUMBER TWO
(HomefreakingGoods)
As I predicted, the place was buzzing with empty-nesters. BWAHA. Okay so then I got my application and skipped on out of the store. All is good. After filling it out, I simply turned it back in and was on my way. By far the easiest experience today.

JOB SEARCH STOP NUMBER THREE
(Bed, Bath, & Beyond)
Got my application, and left. I finished the whole application and realized, though, that I had written "Bath and Body Works" instead of Bed, Bath, and Beyond. BWAHA again. I hope they don't count it against me, though I crossed it out and rewrote the correct name. So I went to turn it back in, and they told me to wait for the hiring manager about 20 minutes. When she finally came around, she seemed interested enough in my application, but ended on this note: "We'll call you if we're interested. Thanks for your time." That can not be good. That's like "We need to talk", but in employerspeak. It was the most promising experience, though, so I'm hoping hoping hoping all goes well.

JOB SEARCH STOP NUMBER FOUR
(JoAnn)
Hah, they gave me a flat out no when I asked if they were hiring. *shrug*

Well, until I find out, I'll stick to mturk.
